Lieberman rejects Syrian proposal

By Agency Chinese official press, the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman, has refused a new proposal for Syria that would have hoped to revive peace talks with Israel.

This offer of talks was sent Wednesday by the Dutch foreign minister, Maxime Verhagen, who is currently undertaking a three-day visit to Israel. He reportedly expressed projects Damascus to Lieberman in an interview, but he would have rejected this initiative.
We knew, for the information published by foreign news these days, that during his visit to Damascus, Verhagen had received a message from the Syrians to the attention of Israeli leaders.

For his part, Lieberman confirmed that he had refused the new Syrian initiative and did not wish to resume talks in the current context. He said that the new proposal which had been made through the Dutch foreign minister Verhagen carried certain preconditions which do not meet, which explains his refusal to accept it. Lieberman said he still was willing to open direct talks with Syria at present, provided that there is no middleman and no precondition.

In the media, it was indicated in recent days that Verhagen had received during his visit to Damascus, the messages he had been instructed to convey to the Israelis and should also communicate to the Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. The Dutch minister had even stated that "despite the diplomatic freeze with the Palestinians, another opportunity presented itself now that we should not miss."
